My arm is healing well. I saw my surgeon, Dr. Richard Angelo of the Evergreen Orthopedic Center, on Friday to get a check-up and some new x-rays. The breaks in my radius are nearly fully healed on their own, and my clavicle is holding together perfectly and knitting quickly. I was given a referral to physical therapy, but told at the same time that I likely will not even need it, as I have not lost any flexibility or range of motion at all. I’ve got another checkup scheduled for April 1st where I will receive the final yes or no, but overall the odds look good for an appearance at the first WMRRA round at Pacific Raceways on April 4th!

In other, less sunny news, it looks like I may not be able to compete in the sixth round of the AMA Pro Racing Superbike championship at Miller Motorsports Park, as I had previously planned. The medical costs associated with my crash in Las Vegas and subsequent surgery have made it impossible to pay my own way to Miller, and I have been unable to procure enough sponsorship to make up the funds. If you are reading this and looking for an extremely cost-effective way to reach an audience of over 50,000 people in-person and millions more on television, please contact me as I would love work with you to get your brand out. The 2009 AMA Pro Racing Superbike series is run by the Daytona Motorsports Group, the same people who operate NASCAR and its associated series, and who really know how to put on a big show with mind-boggling exposure opportunities. At last year’s event there were nearly 80,000 people in attendance for the weekend, which hosted both the AMA and World Superbike championships.
There is always a silver lining to every cloud however, and the silver lining in this case is that if I am unable to make it this May, I will try to compete in a couple AFM events at Infineon instead. Doing so will earn me experience on yet another AMA track, and let me make a stronger debut in 2010. It will also make up some of the lost exposure for the sponsors I do have, without whom I wouldn’t be able to race at all, let alone compete on a national scale: Studio819 Photography, Performance Source, RaceTech Suspension, Adrenaline Freaks Trackdays, MorePower Racing, V-holdR Cameras, Vortex, and last but never least, PNWRiders.com.
